Our Future Depends on You!

As the Grace Jones Community Day Care Center pushes forward to a second half-century of award winning service to the families of the Florida Keys, we confront several challenges that are actual opportunities for community support. Such support can come in the form of volunteer services, financial contributions, or in-kind contributions. Here are a few examples:

 
·         As part of our world-class delivery of day care services, we like to take our children on occasional field trips ranging from a simple visit to a supermarket on up to museums in Key West and Miami. The Center is in great need of a safe, functioning passenger van to continue this fine tradition. “Got van?”
 
·         While everyone loves the sunshine of the Florida Keys, can you believe it has already wrecked havoc on our outdoor playground equipment? Who amongst us has a donation that could be applied toward replacing these very popular assets at the Center? We need $10,000 for this challenge.
 
·         As mentioned, while our active Capital Campaign has been shelved out of respect for a community that literally exhausted itself by raising nearly $2.5 million for re-building, we do still have a modest construction debt of $90,000 and we would greatly appreciate any donations from members of the community that will help us to retire this remaining sum once and for all.

 ·       Sadly, many children in the Florida Keys – including some who attend the Center – struggle with chronic hunger. Their families are working hard to survive our difficult economy (we know of some parents who hold down three jobs). We have started an amazingly effective new program called Back Packs 4 Kids (see Back Pack Section) and we would greatly appreciate all donations to help sustain this solution-oriented approach to stop childhood hunger in our community.
